The InventFuture.Global Challenges are a series of three on-line, interactive, working educational sessions all focused on a specific global issue as defined by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Students around the globe will be working together to identify problems, create solutions and present them to the world. By participating in these IF.G Challenges, students will learn the skills they need to be true problem solvers as they also meet and learn about students in other countries, environments and societies.
The goal of this challenge is to ensure access to safe Drinking Water resources for everyone and answer the following four questions:
IF.G Water Challenge consists of three virtual events — two collaborative sessions and one challenge session. Each session will be 90 to 120 minutes long. To participate in IF.G Water Challenge, student should have registered at local IFG Organizations.
The Water Challenge is a learning experience and IF.G does NOT expect you to know everything or how to do everything. If you already knew everything, then there would be no learning. So, if in the beginning, you do not know how to do something like SCAMPER or you do not know how to use something like Padlet, do NOT worry. By the end of this program, you will know these things and you will, more importantly, have learned a lot about the issues of Drinking Water all around the world.
Students will discuss and choose a specific problem that relates to the theme. They will then share with the group how that problem affects their country and learn how it impacts other people around the world in different ways.
Students will brainstorm together to generate ideas about how to address the same issue, but from different directions according to the needs and conditions of their country. Students will then identify new or existing devices that might be of some help in addressing the issues and do SCAMPER activities to make them even better and more effective.
Students will need to have created or designed an invention or prototype to participate in this session. In this session, students will present and explain their whole invention process to their age section group.
